Less is more

This little play on the typical ‘holding up the poster’ shot by Olly Moss made me chuckle. He’s also got some really nice illustration on there too.

Michael C. Place of Build applies a hands-on approach to his craft, for a new campign for Pritt. I’m sooooooo not liking the soundtrack though, but I guess it’s French afterall…

Terratag

July 24, 2008

Terratag run some pretty radical tee and hoodie designs, with influences drawn from Manga, Lichtenstein and Graffiti art. They’re also running a competition to design a robot to be printed on a T-shirt. It can be any style of robot – let you imagination run riot. All entries must be submitted by August 1st with prize being £250 and 10 T-shirts printed with their winning design. Check it the Terratag site here.

Some gobsmacking photos here by this crazy individual. His work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. I wonder if he’s heard of photoshop?

I remember first reading about this fella in the first edition of Varoom released through the Association of Illustrators a couple of years ago. Danish based Ukrainian designer Sergei Sviatchenko has just finished an exhibition in Spain called ‘The Trip’. The show is to coincide with the release of his monographic book entitled ‘Less’. More on his website…

Not sure if I’ve posted this link before, but this guy creates some of the most inspirational paintings I’ve ever seen.

Yet another online graphics arts/design magazine, KDU’s Summer Solstice edition of The Royal Magazine features some nifty eye candy. Have it!

‘Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far’ is on show at Deitch Projects until Feburary 23. The show is a continuation of Stephan Sagmeister’s book of the same name which is out later this year. Each piece of work serves as a visual expression of the following things (listed below), which Mr Sagmeister has learned in life and were later to be adapted into commerical graphic design projects for his clients:

1. Helping other people helps me.

2. Having guts always works out for me.

3. Thinking that life will be better in the future is stupid. I have to live now.

4. Organising a charity group is surprisingly easy.

5. Being not truthful always works against me.

6. Everything I do always comes back to me.

7. Assuming is stifling.

8. Drugs feel great in the beginning and become a drag later on.

9. Over time I get used to everything and start taking for granted.

10. Money does not make me happy.

11. My dreams have no meaning.

12. Keeping a diary supports personal development.

13. Trying to look good limits my life.

14. Material luxuries are best enjoyed in small doses.

15. Worrying solves nothing.

16. Complaining is silly. Either act or forget.

17. Everybody thinks they are right.

18. If I want to explore a new direction professionally, it is helpful to try it out for myself first.

19. Low expectations are a good strategy.

20. Everybody who is honest is interesting.

This reminds me a bit of an arty version of that Baz Luhrmann tune which was released a while ago:
