The official website for Michel Gondry’s latest release, Be Kind Rewind has a really nifty website full of bizarre animation concepts and downloadable freebies. The overall theme running through the site makes a great deal more sense if you’ve actually seen the film, which is superb by the way. Definitely worth a look even if you’re simply a fan of Jack Black, who slips perfectly into a bit of a different role for him.

The first trailer for Indiana Jones KOTCS (or Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for the full an long-winded title, of which I’m still not 100% sure about) was leaked onto the web yesterday. They say 50 is the new 40, and 60 is the new 50 – and along side Sly’s new Rambo flick ol’ Harrison looks as he’s still got his whip-cracking skills to a tee. Thank god they didn’t opt for the CGI whip or he isn’t fighting aliens, were some of the bizarre rumours which started circulating late last year.Start the countdown till’ May 22nd then and you just KNOW you’re gonna be whistling that theme tune all day now…

the coen brothers

No country for Old Men opens up in UK cinemas this weekend – a little reminder for all the Coen brothers fans out there. For the best of their previous works of art I’d recommend: The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou? (these were both featured back to back on sunday night on Film 4 to celebrate the release of the film), Fargo, Miller’s Crossing.

transformers

Well its finally here, Transformers the movie crash-landed at our local flicks at the weekend and I was one of many queuing up friday night for a couple of tickets. Those familiar with Michael Bay (Armageddon, Pearl Harbour) will already know he isn’t one for thought-provoking storylines, but not being a massive Transormers star previously I can now confirmed that I AM OFFICIALLY CONVERTED! I heard on Radio 1’s movie review previously the same afternoon that this is the quintessential ‘guy film – making The Fast and The Furious look like Bridget Jones Diary’. Although I agree with the later, I’d say take the wife, girlfriend or even your mum (although there is one particular scene involving a brief father/son discussion about adolescent masturbation, so probably best to leave your mum out of it).

Seriously though, go and see this film while it’s on at the big screen for the full effect. The effects are out of this world, the action is enough to give you goosebumps and there’s even just a pinch of light-hearted comedy to balance out the chaos and shameless destruction of public property throughout.
