Print Gocco
November 28, 2008
I recently purchased a Japanese Print Gocco PG-11 (though am yet to put it to use), and have been searching around for various examples of their capabilities. There’s a couple of good Flickr Groups with loads of photos in:

If you want one, there’s usually a few on ebay, but I got mine second hand but in great conditions directly from a lovely lady called Ingrid.
If i ever get round to using it I’ll post the results!
Museo Sans
October 6, 2008
Welcome to exljbris, the library of Jos BuivengaI. I really like the fonts which this guy puts out. So I was delighted to learn he had a WordPress blog which reveals all the ‘behind the scenes’ (so to speak) on his releases, as well as works in progress on up and coming creations. After to subscribing to the feed I discovered that Museo Sans has just been released – according to Jos its a “sturdy, low contrast, geometric, highly legible sans serif typeface very well suited for any display and text use.” Its also easy on the eye which is always a bonus.

This is first in a series of ‘Awful Mistakes made by Designers’ who are working in the apparel and music industries. There’s some worthy points made and the article is well written and informative – especially the section which focuses on pricing, which is always a delicate subject where creativity is concerned.
Destroy Today Flickr
July 3, 2008
Surprised and a little bit gutted I haven’t stumbled across this before now. Destroy flickr allows users to customize their own interface and ways of presenting their photos on Flickr, so the backgrounds can actually contrast with and/or improve the effectiveness of your shots as opposed to diluting them. It also offers a personalised workstation to help streamline the whole ‘uploading and saving’ pictures tediousness, which usually comes as standard with Flickr.
The 10 Commandments of Web Design
July 3, 2008
(via SwissMiss):
1. Thou shalt not abuse Flash.
2. Thou shalt not hide content.
3. Thou shalt not clutter.
4. Thou shalt not overuse glassy reflections.
5. Thou shalt not name your Web 2.0 company with an unnecessary surplus or dearth of vowels.
6. Thou shalt worship at the altar of typography.
7. Thou shalt create immersive experiences.
8. Thou shalt be social.
9. Thou shalt embrace proven technologies.
10. Thou shalt make content king.

Vox Populi: Best practices for file naming
March 6, 2008
Useful… I’ve actually been using R-Name for a naming convention on my hard drive at home. It’s quite useful for batch processing file names by folder and project name, with consistent markers for each project name. I would imagine it would come in just as handy for web designers too, when handling their assets! You can download it here for free.
