From JPG to HD

The idea behind the HD Photo format, as it will hopefully replace the age-old JPEG format by offering greater support for new digital imaging trends like HDR (High Dynamic Range), and boasting much better image quality at half the overall file size.
Good news for Mac Users as a Photoshop CS2/CS3 plug-in for PowerPC and Intel Macs running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger has recently been sprung and can been downloaded here, free from Microsoft.

  1. Another file format that’s making its way to becoming a standard is the Adobe DNG or “Digital Negative”. It’s a worthwhile format to understand better. The idea is to introduce a “long-term archival solution” that can be recalled and used over a period of time with out risk of becoming obsolete as a result of our ever changing technological developments/requirements.

    Link here for more information.

There’s a DNG converter application available for download here (the application will be included with the latest image raw plugin from Adobe). Below is a screenshot of the app.
